Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the questions you may have answered for you. Feel to contact us for any other questions you may have.
We recommend starting with a free initial consultation. During this call, we'll listen to your situation without any obligation and help you understand which service — or combination of services — would best meet your needs. There is no pressure to proceed, and everything discussed is strictly confidential.
We offer flexible delivery across all services. Sessions can be conducted in person, via secure video conferencing, or by telephone — whichever works best for you. We understand that attending in person is not always practical or accessible, and we're committed to removing that barrier wherever possible.
We're committed to making our services genuinely accessible. Depending on your needs, we can provide written materials in alternative formats (large print, plain language, digital), offer sessions in sensory-considerate environments, allow extra processing time, accept communication through a support person, and adapt our communication style to suit you. Please let us know your needs when you make contact and we'll do our best to accommodate them.
Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of all our services. Information shared during consultations and sessions is not disclosed to any third party without your consent, except in the rare circumstances required by law (such as immediate risk of harm). We will always explain these limits clearly before we begin working together.
Absolutely. You are welcome to bring a trusted support person, carer, or communication assistant to any session. We believe that having the right people alongside you often leads to better outcomes, and we'll work collaboratively with your support network when you invite us to.
Our mediation service covers a broad range of disputes including workplace and employment conflicts, neighbour and community disagreements, disputes within organisations or clubs, tenancy and housing issues, and education-related conflicts between parents or students and institutions. If you're unsure whether your situation is suitable, get in touch — we're happy to advise.
Mediation works best when all parties participate willingly. We can assist you in approaching the other party with an invitation to mediate and, in some instances, reach out on your behalf. While we cannot compel anyone to attend, many people are open to mediation once they understand it is a safe, neutral process with no predetermined outcome.
This varies depending on the complexity of the dispute and the willingness of all parties to engage. Many straightforward matters are resolved in one to three sessions. More complex or emotionally charged disputes may take longer. We will always give you a realistic indication of the likely timeframe after our initial consultation.
Mediated agreements are made in good faith, so are not automatically legally binding; it is up to the parties present to act in accordance with the agreement. For specific legal advice, we recommend consulting an independent lawyer.
We support learners from early primary school through to adulthood, including adult learners returning to study. Subject areas include literacy, numeracy, English, mathematics, science, humanities, and study skills. We also offer support for vocational and certificate-level courses. If your subject isn't listed, contact us.
Our tutors are trained in neurodiversity-affirming practice and experienced in supporting students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, autism, anxiety, and other learning profiles. We begin every tutoring relationship with a detailed intake to understand the student's strengths, challenges, and preferences, and we adjust our methods accordingly. We never using a one-size-fits-all approach.
With your consent, we're happy to communicate with your child's school or classroom teachers to ensure a consistent approach. We can share progress notes, discuss learning goals, and provide input for Individual Education Plans or similar documents. Collaboration with schools often significantly improves student outcomes.
Independent advocacy means we work solely in your interests — not those of a service provider, government body, or funding agency. This independence is crucial because it ensures the advice and support you receive is free from conflicts of interest. Our advocates are trained to uphold your rights, amplify your voice, and help you navigate systems that can otherwise feel overwhelming and inaccessible
Yes. We assist clients in preparing and submitting formal appeals, complaints, and review requests across a range of settings, including healthcare providers, educational institutions, housing authorities, and government agencies. We can help you understand your rights, gather supporting evidence, draft correspondence, and attend hearings or meetings alongside you.
That's precisely what we're here for. Your advocate can attend meetings with you, speak on your behalf when you ask them to, take notes, ask questions you may not feel comfortable asking, and help you process information afterwards. You remain in control of all decisions — our role is to ensure your voice is heard clearly and respectfully.
Yes — building your own confidence and skills to advocate for yourself is something we actively encourage and support. We offer one-to-one capacity building sessions that cover understanding your rights, communicating effectively with services, assertiveness skills, and preparing for difficult conversations. The goal is always to increase your independence, not create reliance on us.
